I.  Introduction

So you want to knit? And we want to help. Great! Where do we begin? Well, we need you, and some supplies. Our recommended supply list follows. You can find these at your local yarn store, or we have provided you with popular links for buying these products online.

*100% wool yarn. An easy, less $ choice for starting out is Lion's Brand Fishermans wool. You can often find this at JoAnn's as well as www.joann.com one 8oz skein is enough for wool pants with leftover yarn

*Knitting needles. We recommend a set of 16” size 5 needles for your ribbing, a set of 16” size 7 or 8 needles for your body, and a set of 12” size 7 or 8 needles for your legs. Addi Turbos are slick, smooth and easy to use. A popular favorite.

*Stitch holder. You can get these at pretty much any craft store. They hold the stitches you are currently not working with.

*Embroidery needle. This will be for weaving in loose strands and working your kitchen grafting stitch for the crotch.

*12-16 packets of KoolAid. The more packets, the more vibrant the colors you will get. Most colors are going to turn out just as they look. Know that grape almost turns your yarn a blackish color, so you will need much less grape KoolAid if you plan to get purple. This is also true with a light blue. See Chapter II, Dyeing, for more information.
*2 stitch markers.  These can be purchased, or just something you have laying around.  You can use a loop of yarn or a couple of extra rings.   Check out www.doodlesjewels.com for beautiful handcrafted stitch markers
