VIII.  Increasing/Ruffled Cuffs

As with many things in knitting, there are numerous ways to add a stitch when needed to your project.  this section will teach how to do a basic and easy increase (add one stitch.)  If you are interested in making knit shorts or pants, it is good to add stitches in the row just after your ribbing, to make your hips larger than your waist.  Increasing is also used in creating ruffled cuffs.  I like to increase every other stitch for a row, then knit a normal row, then increase every other stitch for another row, then knit one more normal row and then bind off.  It makes a cute ruffly cuff.
